About Us

The Exeter School Sport Partnership was established in September 2005 with St Luke's Science and Sports College acting as its hubsite. The Partnership currently comprises of all five Exeter Secondary schools and their associated Primary schools. From September 2006 we are due to expand to include Clyst Vale C.C., Queen Elizabeth's C.C. and Tiverton High School, plus their associated Primary schools (please see enclosed diagram for the exact configuration of schools).

School Sport Partnerships have been established by the DfES nationally to deliver against the PE and School Sport Public Service Agreement:

PSA Target

"To enhance the take-up of sporting opportunities by 5 to 16 year olds so that the percentage of school children in England who spend a minimum of two hours each week on high quality PE and school sport within and beyond the curriculum increases from 25% in 2002 to 75% by 2006 and to 85% by 2008, and to at least 75% in each School Sport Partnership by 2008".

By 2010 the ambition is to offer all children at least 4 hours of sport every week, comprised of:

At least 2 hours high quality PE and sport at school: and the opportunity for at least a further 2-3 hours beyond the school day (delivered by a range of school, community and club providers).

As part of the Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links Strategy (PESSCL), Sports Colleges and School Sport Partnerships have been identified by DfES and DCMS as the infrastructure mechanism which will support schools in achieving this ambitious but achievable target.
